2017 WASC Visit

WASC

Last April 3, 2017, Reedley International School had its one-day Substantive Change Visit from a member of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Mr. Dale Mitchell Ed, D., former US Superintendent and former Head of the Accrediting Commission for Schools of the WASC, spent an entire day in Reedley. He met with school leaders, teachers, and students, and he also visited classrooms and checked out Reedley’s new site.

According to the WASC website, “The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC), a world-renowned accrediting association, a regional accrediting association in the United States, works closely with the Office of Overseas Schools under the Department of State. ACS WASC provides assistance to schools located in California, Hawaii, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Fiji, Asia, and other parts of the world.
ACS WASC extends its services to approximately 5,000 public, independent, church-related, charter, online, supplementary education programs/centers, and proprietary pre-K-12 and adult schools; and works with 18 associations in joint accreditation processes, and collaborates with other organizations such as the California Department of Education, the Hawaii Department of Education, the Association of Christian Schools International, the Council of International Schools, and the International Baccalaureate.”
Reedley International School was given a full six-year accreditation from May 2013 until June 2019 after a full accreditation visit on February of that same year. Reedley recently concluded a mid-cycle visit last February 2016.
Dr. Mitchell was pleased to see many “good things” happening in Reedley. Reedley will be starting its preparations for the full self-study in 2019 next school year.
