Reedley values the partnership of families and the school. Starting this school year, 2015-2016, in cooperation with Gurufirm, Reedley will conduct a series of parenting seminars called, “Perspectives,” which will help parents understand their children better, instill positive discipline at home, widen their perspectives as parents, and gain insights from experts and fellow parents as well. Gurufirm is a training and consultancy company aimed in equipping parents with the tools they need to help create a safe, creative, supportive and meaningful environment where Filipino children will thrive.
Last October 22, the first series of parenting talks was held at the Upper School Library. It had an amazing turnout as a large number of our Lower School parents attended the event!
The talk was entitled, “Stop, Look, Listen” and we had the honor of having Mrs. Patricia Tanya F. Velasco of Gurufirm, as our guest speaker. She shared about parenting styles and practical discipline strategies to be applied at home and outside the home.
During the session, the parents learned parenting tips from Mrs. Velasco and even had a chance to show their acting skills as they presented scenarios of how they discipline their children. With all the laughter and applause, it was an enjoyable and fruitful activity! With the helpful tips, fun bonding with other parents, and great food, this talk turned out to be an excellent learning event!
