Last December 5 to 16, 2016, a book drive was launched at the school thru the initiative of the Embassy of Singapore in cooperation with the “Books For A Cause” (BFAC).
BFAC is an advocacy that aims to provide knowledge to every Filipino and increase literacy through continuous learning. Prior the said campaign, announcements were made through posters, homeroom promotions, and information dissemination via google classrooms.
The materials that were collaboratively shared were gently-loved books on subjects like Science, Mathematics, Culture and Arts, History, Classic Literature, and Fiction (young adult novels and story books for children).
The class presidents were in-charge of motivating and reminding their classes to extend support in this generous act. With the assigned brightly-colored boxes, the 5th and 6th floors lobbies served as the drop off locations for these treasured books.
Aboard such unified activity at the 2nd and 4th floor library areas, the Junior High Department was able to gather a total of 530 books from both students and faculty members of the school. The books were turned over to the Embassy of Singapore through Mr. Scott Loh, Deputy Chief of Mission and Counsellor last January 10, 2017 with the Student Council Officers, Class Presidents and the Junior High and Senior High Principals.
Reedley has once again opened its doors and extended a hand to learners beyond the corners of the classrooms.
Thank you, everyone!
